Like many couples, Charlie and I wanted a wedding that felt uniquely ours. However, we soon realised that to truly capture the essence of a wedding, we needed a few familiar traditions to ground us—things that made the day feel special while staying true to who we are.
We envisioned a day that was relaxed, down-to-earth, and fun, with a distinct Cornish vibe. This vision was reflected in everything we chose, from the venue to the food, and even our attire.
We tied the knot in a charming little chapel in Marazion, where we made sure to arrive before our guests to personally welcome everyone. The ceremony itself was informal and fun—we kicked things off with a short talk about why we were getting married, followed by delicious Cornish cream teas! Afterward, we headed down to the beach overlooking St Michael’s Mount for photos and some classic outdoor games, like a coconut shy and skittles, along with drinks and laughter.
For the evening reception, we made our way to Solomon Browne Hall in Mousehole, where we hired local caterers Ruby Junes to serve up delicious curries. The soundtrack of the evening was provided by the fantastic The All Good Things - a local Bluegrass and Country band that kept the energy high and the dance floor full. The whole atmosphere was laid-back and casual, with trestle tables, bamboo plates, fairy lights, and a general sense of fun.
This easygoing vibe extended to our outfit choices. Charlie kept it comfortable and cool, opting for a collarless linen shirt, black jeans, and braces. I wanted something that embodied both elegance and comfort, so I chose a stunning cotton lace dress from Sister Organics - a beautiful Devonshire bridal brand known for using sustainable organic cottons, silks, and lace. And, of course, I wore white Salt-Water Original sandals; comfortable, classic, and perfect for the day.
I’ve been a fan of Salt-Water Sandals for years, wearing them from the first hint of spring all the way into late summer. Wearing them on my wedding day was a no-brainer, I wanted to feel comfortable, especially with all the running around we planned to do on the beach. Some of our favourite photos capture me jumping over rock pools and generally enjoying the freedom of being barefoot in the sand. When it was time to head back to my hotel room, I gave my feet and sandals a quick rinse in the bath before heading to the reception - still comfy and fresh.
The bonus? After the wedding, I could wear my Salt-Water Sandals on our honeymoon in Sicily …and beyond! They’re the perfect reminder of our special day, and they’ll continue to be part of my summer wardrobe for years to come.
